Can y'all give me your thoughts on the price of this FB? At the dealer and I have a 2009 Sporty 1200C to trade in. Would be looking at newer bikes, but am in the Navy headed to Japan and face $2,500 in costs to bring my Sportser to their emissions standards. THis does not apply to bikes manufactured prior to 31 March 2001 so have been looking around the area. I know its better to buy from a private seller, but have been unable to sell my Sporty which is why I am looking at trading it in. Here is the info on it:
"2000 Harley-Davidson FLSTF Fat Boy, only 5,719 miles. Stage 1 air cleaner, exhaust, H-D detachable windshield, detachable backrest with luggage rack, and more! $10,495 plus tax, license and doc fee."
Too Expensive fora bike of that age. $8000 max but i would be be down around $6000. The low mileage actually works against it in my opinion. Dried up seals etc.
If i were you id take your time and try to sell it privately than trade it in.
Cant you use ur orders to ship your bike after you already get to Japan? I got to Alaska and shipped my car a year later on the army's dime.
Then you can buy a used bike on the internet and finance through Harley. For harley to finance they will actually look over the bike to make sure its ok. Then get it shipped.
Just a thought.
