I have an 02 Sofatil Heritage and I just got it started up today after a build up from an 88 to a 98 including head porting. Started and ran fine for the first two heat cycles then on the third cycle it would not start and then all of a sudden the starter motor just spun without engaging. Pulled the primary and the jsck shaft it throwing out into the clutch basket but is not turning it.
It is either the starter clutch, the starter relay or the curcuit breaker has burnedout. I put in new S&S compression release cams but the starter seemed to be struggling to turn it. Maybe I just need to install a new high-torque starter motor. And these starters are a BIT-- to remove. The oil bag and the back exhaust pipe both need to be removed.
Any suggestions out there??? Trying to save some work and/or money. . .
