not sure how permanent your front end is but I had a buddy paint his. He left the forks installed and tapped then painted. I'm sure most guys on here would say not to but he rocked that painted look with no problems for a good 10k miles before he sold the bike.
I've seen the dyna guys do this but no softails so far... Painting and cutting PVC to size and sliding the forks down through the trees, insert the PVC between the trees, and slide the forks back up. My question is, I have an FXST, 41mm forks. What size pipe do I buy? Converted, 41mm is 1.61 inches roughly. I had some 1 1/2" PVC at the house and its larger than the upper forks. It would not fit snug... It would rattle around. Doesn't make sense according to the measurement conversion though. If anyone has done this can you let me know what size pipe you bought? thanks
My forks are 41mm I used 1" 3/4 pipe slit from one end to the other this then slides over the fork leg then i used 2" black pvc pipe which slides over the smaller one fits really tight. Better than the originals cost me £9
