Slide a cut up 2 liter pop bottle under the filter. Use an awl to punch two holes in the end of the filter, one at the top and one at the bottom. Go have a cold beer or two. Come back and remove the now empty filter.
One time I had the oil nice & hot. The plastic shriveled up in a flash.
I also use the HD brand and it works great...no mess, catches all of the oil when I remove the filter.....also use the HD brand for the primary....what the heck....it's all good what ever you use.....I have used some of the home versions mentioned already but the HD brand will last a lifetime......
