I went black, here are the pics. Its got the standard baffle. RSD air cleaner. I have been out a couple of more times, and they have sounded much more tolerable. Maybe just a sensitive day??? I did order the smartpartz baffles.
I used an IPhone decibel meter today. My bike at idle was 93 to 94 decibels at idle standing to either side. Reving the throttle to 2500 to 3000 rpms increased the decibels to 97/98. Did the same test with my wife's Nightster with Rush slip-ons and saw 90 decibels at idle and 94/95 leaning on the throttle.
Finally got the correct Smartpartz baffle to see if that would lower the decibel level at all (I've read conflicting reports). Installed it today. Frankly, couldn't tell any difference. And the Iphone decibel readings were identical before and after. Dang.
Or I guess I can now try the Quiet Baffles that V&H makes. I've also read that they don't make much of a difference, but may between them and the Smartpartz they might lower it a decibel or two.
