Recovery: I have question... You said your bike is carb'd and then mention the dealer having issues with o2 sensors with the Samsons? That doesn't make sense. What year is your bike? Is it carbed? I'm confused.

Oh, and a couple more things..

It makes sense that Buffalo Chopper told you that. Tom the owner REALLY knows his **** where engines are concerned. I know guys who had him do their engines and rave about his work. If he can't get a bike to run perfectly with the Samsons, he'll probably lean against them.

Buffalo Harley: I bought my bike from them (Bailey location) in June of 2000 and have had exceptional dealings with them ever since. I've heard stories like everyone else, but have never been a victim. I trust them 100%. I've been screwed elsewhere, but never there. The staff is awesome, and I have a great relationship with them.

It is carbed. When I wrote that, I meant that was the only thing I found about their pipes that people complained about. I know I don't have O2 sensors on mine.

I kinda figured that about Tom because he is who I talked to. I can honestly say that from the times I have dealt with him, he knew what he was talking about. I don't doubt him, but was almost wondering if there was another problem that caused it not to run right.

I too don't have anything against Buffalo, just not my first choice of places to go. I live 5 minutes away from Southtowns. I will go there for little things because it seems like that's all they have there. They usually have to order everything or get it from their other store. Just personal preference is all. I am going to Stan's this weekend to order the pipes. I just love that they have deals like this. Just bought my front end there too because I got 20% off then too during their sale.

Just an update:

I got the pipes in and now have them installed. They are AWESOME! Not as long as I though either. They are perfect and I can at least leave my driveway without them scraping. Everywhere else is going to be the issue. I was able to get my dad to take it for a little ride today so I could hear them as everyone else will. Here they are!!! 36" slash cuts.

I also got a little video which is the better of the three and shows off a good amount of their sound

Thanks to all for the feedback and also talking me into buying these.

I like them. they look good.. different style than the Cholos with that same basic flavor. Good thing you didn't listen to the Dealer. they'll probably also tell you that a Power Commander voids a warranty, which also isn't true.

Very nice dude. I love my samson and my dealership didn't endorse them either but I to me they are the best looking and best sounding exhaust on the planet.

In the way of what? My O2 ports are very easily accessible.

Here are pics of my O2 ports

I say, if you like the Samsons go for it. You'll be very happy. Screw the dealers or what anyone else says.
I think I have seen your bike at the Fort Hood HD shop. Nice bike, I like the retro look

Rootro,

You have a good memory for bikes you've seen. It was my bike you saw at Fort Hood HD. They built the bike there and have always done right by me. Congrats on your new SG. If you see my bike at the dealership when you are there, ask Butch or Lowell to point out Doc who owns the black and white Heritage. I'd be happy to meet you, brother.

It'll be in the low 70's today. A great day to put some miles on your bike. Ride safe.

Recovery,

The Samsons look great on the Heritage. You don't see slash cuts often. It'll be a nice contrast to your Dad's fishtails when you ride together. Which curved layback license plate frame is on your bike?

I find the advice at different dealerships very interesting. Maybe some of it is driven by the bottom line. Most of the comments in this thread note that the dealerships discouraged Samsons. Maybe it wasn't specifically the Samsons themselves but TD systems they frowned on due to its impact on performance. With the tuners available nowadays, most, if not all performance degradation can be mitigated.

My dealership, Fort Hood HD, was very encouraging. They gave me the appropriate advice regarding the different mods I wanted but was supportive of the look I wanted to achieve.

Thanks guys! One of the reasons I didn't go with the fishtails IS because my dad wants them. He rides a king and it would look too close to each other and I don't want that.

@Bone Doc, the license plate frame I have is a drag specialties radius plate mount. If you are looking for legal, this is not the plate for that. In NY, we have 6 characters in our plates if you don't have a custom plate. The mount is smaller than the plate so you need to trim it. The number is blocked and the light off the brake light doesn't shine on it now. But I think it looks great which is more important to me than a ticket right now.
