Hi All,
Just dropped in from the Touring section because my girlfriend just bought an 06 Softail Heritage Classic. Are there any known issues or things to watch out for on this year and model, it's got 12K miles and appears stock. Haven't had a chance to check out the cam chain tensioner but that's all I'm aware of, any helpful hints would be appreciated!
I dont have one, but Ive been around the softail forum for over a year, and I have never seen any problems other than the cam chain tensioners. Service it as suggested and your gf should have many trouble free miles ahead of her

And don't forget to ride it, something the previous owner(s) have neglected.
Their is a service bulletin for 06 regarding injectors and cold start or cold running with hesitation. The fix is to upgrade the 8 degree injectors to 25. Some later model 06 already have the 25's. You can check yourself. Also, its not necessary to change them if you dont have any symptoms.
IN order----Mostly the tennsioners, then the Pinhole in the gas line and the injectors is about the most talked about issues in here on the 88''s.
Check the tires/tubes, if still org or 5 yrs old I'd change them out.. and for sure do a complete maintenance on her..
New oils, all three holes and filter:, Lube the cables and neck bearings. Check the belt tension and don't forget to Check the Spokes for loose ones. Also may need a new air filter.

.
I bought an 8 year old bike, with 2k. Dunlop recommended replacing tires over 6 years. Check the date on sidewall.

Even if they are newer, you might want to replace them if any sidewall wear.
