If you have the 5-1/4 headlamp like the Deuce, consider the Cibie flat face headlamp replacement. I put that in my deuce, it sticks out the front of the shell about a half inch, and makes it quite noticeable from the side. The other benefit is that it is really a good lamp, throws a really usable pattern in front of the bike. IMO it was a major upgrade from a stock or a Adjure headlamp. I got it from Daniel Stern lighting.
Hmmm, I've been looking for something like that for about a year. Instead of a clear lens, it has prisms molded in to throw light out to the side, and that seems to work really well on the bikes I see on the road. I only see 5.75 diameter on their site though. Is that what you meant?
My bad, 5-3/4 is what I meant. He was very helpful, the light is a legal motorcycle light, and he has a wide selection of bulbs for it too. I put the 7" in the ultra since the 5-3/4 worked so well in the Deuce, I wasn't disappointed.
For the money I install a Sylvania Ultra Star (vision) headlite bulb, about $12 they are much btighter and wider beam. You can install a headlight modulator and wear Hi Viz vest/jacket. It all helps.
Much brighter...hmmm...I dunno. and they last about 6 months. Better carry a spare.

I heard that the Silverstar wont last long in a bike, but I have had the Silverstar Ultra in the Deuce for 11,000 miles now, and it still works. YMMV...

My history with the Silverstar; 2005 RK, 2007 E/glide and a 2011 Heritage, all upgraded the 1st week I bought 'em. All 3 never went out. Lamp is much brighter as far as rider sight forward and much wider. I dont spend $100's of dollars on an upgrade unless there is a "marked" benefit. $12 for a good upgrade for me is a value. The OEM lamp and a couple screwdrivers are in the bag, in case. Another box store usually avail for a new one if I would need another. As with any lamp it is critical that you don't touch them with your hands when installing. Use a non-oil rag or gloves. Any contminent on the lamp will shorten its life.
Last summer I added two aux lights to my Deuce. They are the Kuryakin Large Silver bullets. The placement of them was chosen for two reasons.
#1-making me more visible to others.
#2-adding more lighting for me.
They are on a separate power wire with relay and switch.
I achieved #1 with a triangular pattern. My thinking is that it's not a normal pattern, and therefore more noticeable.
#2- Well, it's better but not as much as I had hoped for.
Overall I'm happy with it. Next project just may be the Cibie lights.

Yeah...i've replaced a ton of bulbs in all sorts of vehicles and worklamps...I know about not touching them.
It used to be listed on Sylvanias website that the ultrastars life expectancy was 1 year...100hrs....can't find it now. But I did recently see it in the product guide or packaging at the autoparts store when I was buying headlight bulbs for my wifes car.

Funny, mine lasted a lot longer than that on my car too.
