Default Saddlebag questions for Deuce

As a matter of personal preference, I don't like driving with saddlebags all the time. At best, I'd probably use them once a month.

I have a hell of a time putting the saddlebag brackets on and bolting them to the inside of the rear fender. If someone knows a great trick to do this ultra-quickly, without removing the back wheel, etc, I'd really like to know, as that would solve my problem. My big sausage fingers don't fit so well under there, and combine that with a wrenchor aratchet which will only tighten one click at a time, and I'm on the verge of apoplexy a la Donald Duck.

Here's question number one - anyone have the saddlebag kit for the Deuce that bolts to the inside of the rear fender, that has a 180 tire? Any fitment concerns?

Question number two - yes the saddlebags are quick release with the two bolts inside which removes the bags and the sideplates. However, I'm left with that small bracket which wraps around the back of the fender. No problem, except the studs to bolt the bags to stick out from the sides of the fender (two on each side). Chromed or not, you're still left with these long "pegs" sticking out on either side of the rear fender. Bleah. Does any manufacturer make a bolt-on cover or something neat that covers these if you're not using the bags?

Thanks in advance. I've got my new rims & tires waiting to go on, and I thought I'd ask before I go any further.

I'm not sure if you have a solo seat or a two-up seat with a sissy bar on your bike. If you have the two-up seat with sissy bar you could always go with a T-Bag or SAC bag on the sissy bar instead of the saddlebags. I think it's a much cleaner look because it sits up high on the back and doesn't hide the sides of the bike. You also wouldn't have to worry about the saddlebag support brackets or the bolts when you're not using the bag. Just lift the bag off the back of the sissy bar, walk away and you won't see any extra hardware on the bike. It's just a suggestion but you might want to check out this alternative to saddlebags.

Ghost Brackets or Easy Brackets. After the sadlebags are removed, all that is left is a short piece of chrome about 4 inches long on the rear fender.

I saw that. It looks pretty good (or at least the best I've seen so far). I have what looks like the "Boss Bags" (came with some parts when I built the bike) setup.

I bought the hard barrel bag from Kuryakyn for my luggage rack on the sissy bar. It fits nice, but rocks back and forth unless you bungee the daylights out of it, so I've made an aluminumbracket that slides over my luggage rack (almost like a sock), and then the bag sits on it and cable ties to it. One strap holds the whole deal on, so it can be removed quickly, and you can't see it.
