I got an 07 softail standard seat from a friend, when i did a quick test fit it appeared to fit fine but now that i actually have it, it doesnt seem to curve with fender quite right. It rises off the fender a bit and i have to push down for it to reach the back bolt. Im not forcing it down it takes just a touch, it just doesnt sit flat on its own.
My question is to all those who have a slim with a 2 up seat, does your seat sit flat on its own or is this typical? Sorry if this is a dumb question, still new to harley's
when i first bought my Slim, i purchased a softail seat at a swap meet for 20 bucks, thinking, "what could be sooo different?" WRONG. the ECM was totally in the way and the fender didn't flow with the seat at all. I think you just have to get specific seats for the Slim/Blackline.
I turned around and sold that seat for 50... lucked out on that one!
Just took another look at it. The ecm has a couple prongs around it that looks like is there just to keep the seat from resting against it. I think that's what is making it push off a tad. Not a perfect fit but with a fender bib i think it might work. Just temporary anyways till i can save for a new seat
I have seen many comment on here that Danny Gray seats are hard as a rock. I am disappointed in the lack of offerings by the custom seat makers for the Slim. It seems that they only want to offer some generic "this-will-do" product while the Deluxe and regular Softail's get all the special leathers and stitching options. With a new thread popping up every week titled "hey YALL....LOOK AT MY NEW SLIM" you would think a little more would be going into R&D in the seat department.
I agree gregeinsc, there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of options. I feel its a pretty popular bike so i hope companies are working on new products for it
I have the sundowner seat for mine. Its not the best looking on the bike but my wife said its way more comfortable than the pad on my slim. Don't have it on all the time just when she wants to ride. I will post some pictures of it soon as I get the fender back on. I'm lowering the rear fender and relocating the rear lights on it to clear the sissy bar mount

I want to see that fender lowering job, what are you doing to pull that off. Fill me in...pics
