It's my understanding that just opening up the exhaust does not require a re-tune. Add an opened up intake and you will now need to re-tune as you are getting more air in and out causing a lean condition unless re-programmed.

I've had my Rush since new back in 07, 41K ago and they still look new.

I did have to redo the packing 2@ times. the last time they sent me enough packing to do it the New way as they now come double wrapped which should last a lot longer than the old single wrap they used to do.

Sometimes I think about changing the muffs for a 2-1 system, but I just like the sound of them soo much, I end up leaving them on.

Mine smelled pretty bad for a few weeks after install but I've had them about 6 months now and there is no plasticy sort of smell any longer.

I had a Stage 1 done and new air filter installed at the dealer, I do have some popping at decel so maybe I didn't need that but it's not too bad, the odd pop wakes me up.

What I don't get is, some say, even with slip ons, you need to add a better air cleaner AND a tuner. And some say you don't. So who do I believe?

I'm looking at Twin Slash 3" Slip Ons...model 16847, if that matters.
If all you're after is a better sound then just adding slip-ons will suffice.
And you generally won't need to retune the bike.
But if you really want it to run at its peak, then adding a free flowing A/C and a tuner (and a dyno) will really unleash the beast...

Any one tell me the difference between the Rush slip ons vs the
Screaming Eagle slips ons? I have heard good things about Rush but no some much about the screaming eagles?

Good to know. I'm just at a point where I need to save the money, instead of charging it...like I normally do. So it maybe early next year. Thanks for replying.

You don't really need to do any A/C or intake work but you probably will. You'll get a little popping on decel, especially when the weather gets warmer. Rush is nice quality and I'm sure you'll enjoy them.

Default Rush slip-ons

Installed Rush on my Electra Glide last week and they sound great. Only problem is with the powder coat on the tips, turned a nasty copper color. Hope to get that resolved soon, otherwise a terrific set of pipes.

Dealer tech told me not to bother with putting the SEs on my wife's bike as they were barely louder than stock. I already had Rush 1.75s on my bike so I told him to put them on my wife's Deluxe. For some reason they sound better on her bike than mine. I suspect it may have something to do with the shotgun pipe configuration.

I sometimes find them to be too loud especially after they get broken in. But other than going with SEs I don't know what else we could switch to.

We've never had any problems with decel pop and the bikes run fine and that's one reason I don't pull the plug on a tuner. Afraid I might start having issues like some others.
