Fatboy Frustrations...Please Help
Not to get personal, but you're wieght may also be a factor. Not for wind resistance, but for suspension flex. When I installed my lowering bolts, I had to "tune" the rear ride height. At the initial setting, the ride was super squirrely up front, a bit of slow speed flop, and crosswinds made the front end feel really "light". Lowered it just a hair more, maybe 1/8"-3/16", and it firmed up the ride immensly. It took me a few tries to get it all dialed in so that it rode solid, but was nimble in the corners.
What I'm getting at is if you're a light guy, and the preload is maybe set for 2 up, then you're not compressing the rear suspension as much as a heavy guy or 2 up rider, thus creating a different handling aspect on the front end. Raising and lowering the rear affects rake and trail, which is what dictates the "feel" of the front end. Preload is easily adjustable, just need a manual, shock spanner wrench, and a lift. Just something else to consider!
