Default Let's see your chopped rear!

I'm going to be chopping my rear fender and shortening the struts in the next few weeks. I'm undecided on the shape and how far to take it back. Any suggestions out there?

Use construction paper as a template to get the shape and then just slide it forward or back to get an idea of the length you want.

It would allow you to stand back and get a better feel for the overall look before cutting.

Thanks for the pics guys. I think I want to go with a length similar to the ones in these pics.

They look good, but I think those are aftermarket fenders. I'm not sure you're going to get that look by just chopping your stocker. They are pretty contoured to the rear tire.

1st one's a Roland Sands Design fender and the second one's a Exile Cycles bike. Both great looks, but like mentioned earlier, probably won't be able to get the same look by just chopping yours.
You might want to look into buying another stock fender and cutting and painting that one. Then if you ever decide to go back to your old one, you still can.

I hear you...I realize it won't look the same as aftermarket, I'm just trying to decide how far back to cut it. I'II eventually get aftermarket fender/struts. This is just a cheap way for me to decide if I like the chopped look before spending cash.

Let me check my parts stash, I might have a set of shortened struts. They are to stock one that have been chopped down. They would need powdercoated though.
