I'm against that! Your paint stands out as I haven't seen any others (especially with fish tails) in that color red. You paint it, you'll get lost in the crowd (IMHO)! I'd put some redline tires on and maybe a few brass touches like some Roland Sands grips to highlight the pinstripes. It would keep it classy looking yet different from all the rest.

Oh, left the baffles in and LOVE the sound! Plenty loud. Sounds like a dragster.
Benway: Your bike is looking great! I wouldn't change the color.

If you feel you MUST change color, consider a antique white added to your existing color to make it two-toned (white on sides of the tank and tops of fenders). That way, you only have to have the accent (and pinstripes) added. Not a total re-spray.

But seriously, it really looks great as-is. White walls would set it off. But it is YOUR bike, so....

Ride Safe!!

Looks good fellas nice work. These pipes are loud with baffles, you can't hear it since they are so far behind you but when you ride with people they'll let you know. Mine drowned out my brothers thunder headers and he complained about them being to loud, hahahaha. I told him to stop being a wuss and get some plugs if he doesn't like it.

I guess it's a mote point now that I will not be the one putting everything or anything on my bike, all or any of my winter mods, but I was curious back when I assumed I was going to be the one putting these 39's on my bike. The heat shields on the pipes, do you put those on the pipes 1st then install all the pipes snug them up after everything is on or do you install all the pipes 1st then put the heat shields on after all the pipes have been installed and before everything gets snugged up? It's seems or looks like that putting the heat shields on the 2 head pipes on the rear cylinder would be tight going if one waited to try putting the heat shields on the pipes after the pipes have been installed on the bike and then snug everything up? Did that make sense? I'm a little off today for some reason. Must be the pain meds, THANK GOD FOR PAIN MED'S!! P.S., the pipes looks good on your bike Sprung Dave. Did you stick with the stock 16's or is that an 18" on your front? I think I might be the only guy on here with cholos and stock 16" wheels. I don't know why and I surly am not knocking anyone for going with the bigger, skinnier front wheels and tires on their bikes but I just think my bike looks best with the 16's, even with all the mods done to my bike, I still think 16's look most sweet, old school and nostalgia.

Heat Shields go on last, but before you tighten the mufflers down, put them on and check if they snug right up against the muffler seam. I had to loosen the left side to get a tight fit on the left heat shield that bumps up against the muffler.

Easy as cake, though. Open the clamps up, put them on the shields and pop them over the pipes.

I will continue to run my 16" front and will not (for now) even entertain the thought of lowering my bike. I ride all summer and the roads in my back yard (google Million Dollar Highway) have me scraping my footboards and throwing sparks all up and down the switchbacks. Running around town or on the flatlands might have an acceptable ride, but not while running in Los Montana's!
