Default Down Tubes (Stanchions)

G'Day All. I just picked up a new pair of tubes (45930-00) for my Deluxe. Opened them up to inspect and noticed in the bottom of each a blue what appears to be plastic widget (for lack of a better name).

What is this thing?? What does it do?? I'm putting in Progressive mono tubes, do I need it??

Thanks for all replies

Sounds like its just a hole plug? The damper tube goes through the bottom of the upper tube, might be protecting the bushing? Pics would be super helpful, otherwise we're just guessing at what your definition of "blue plastic widget" is.

I don't seem to be able to put any pics up here.
To desribe it a bit better, it's a blue, I think plastic, washer/spacer that is about 2" up from the bottom of the tube...................

Any thoughts?????

Lookin at it, I would say it stays. Looks like its sittin in a groove machined for it. Never noticed that piece when I disassembled mine, but that doesn't mean it wasn't there. Maybe some others who have bought these tubes will chime in with more precise info. Sorry I couldn't help more!
