Does it have a good, clear title, or salvage?
Does it run?

Well I am not an expert on salvage bike prices, I have been watching them some, and that is about the going price, maybe a little high.
It would make sure the motor is not froze up, that would put the price a k lower.
Also depends on who fixes the bike, if you are going to take it to HD then pass and go buy one off the show room floor.
If you are going to do it and use take off e-bay stuff, then that would not be a bad price. Hit him with a low ball and go from there.
Two k, $2,500.
Also start looking at e-bay at replacement parts for price, the primary is pretty easy to replace so is the front end, if you know what you are doing.

That's a smokin deal. I deal with salvaged bikes daily, and I can tell you that Harley's get 35-40% of their market value at salvage, with a salvage title. Go for it, but it. You can make it rideable and sell it for double.

Yeah I plan on fixing it myself I can look it over real good does anybody got any advice on big problem areas to look for concerning the frame or any other spots that would make the bike unfixable or raise the price of the project to much as far as I can see a new front end bars forward controls handle bar controls and a new primary and it would be ride able that's all I'm looking for I already got a hot rod so I'm not to concerned with looks on this one

Well without riding it or putting it on a frame jig it is hard to see if the frame is bent, the problem would be in the steering head, see if there is any obvious areas that are kinked, buckled, any paint cracking.
This is the gambling part. How bad is the front end smashed up, is it just bent back?

I have rebuilt several wrecked harleys no dueces mainly baggers and sportsters a 2000 model i would expect to pay around 2000 for with the damage you described. The frame would be very hard to spot damage on unless the motor was pulled a replacement frame is around 1900 if the outer and inner primary is busted I would check the tranny and motor very hard the outer is a common problem in a wreck the inner being busted too may be a big expense depending on what else you find when you tear into it. If he is a buddy ask him to let you look at it better.
