Default Rocker Mods Continued

It's still winter right? I mean its not really Spring until you spend your tax return and mod your sled...

I couldn't wait for my bars to come in from BR, so I decided to get the powdercoating out of the way...I'll continue this thread in a few weeks when my bars come in. Took a week off work to teardown, powdercoat, and rebuild since I'm not exactly a wrench.

Mods for this round:
- Progressive lowering drop-ins (gonna go about 1-1.5" lower...going to insert a 1/2"-3/4" spacer. Instructions say no spacer will give 2" drop, and the spacer is 2" so we'll see how this works out, I couldn't find any threads about partial spacers and inches of drop)
- All-***** bearings (I only have 3k miles on the bike, but I figured now is a good time)
- Powdercoating
-- Front Fork Lowers
-- Triple Tree's
-- Front/Rear brake rotors
-- Rear Sprocket
-- Headlight
-- Center Console
-- Air cleaner (this upgrade + Powervision will be winter mods)

I'll try to do a lessons learned as far as tools and such to save someone some grief after the rebuild.

Teardown took a full day taking my time, no major issues yet. Powdercoater tomorrow with 24 hr turn time.

Kowan - I am leaning towards it, and will most likely do it during the bar install in a few weeks. I'm really leaning towards only a one inch though...might fab something up.

Blue - The front end was a little more involved than I initially thought. The forks are kind of a pain to get apart, you'll need a 7/16 Allen to get the lowers off and some ingenuity (a table vice would have been great). You have to completely disco your electrical and loosen your clutch/remove handle to actually get the triple tree completely off, this also requires you to remove your dash console, and at a minimum slide your tank back to access all the electrical connections....additionally on your triple tree the steering stem is connected to a bearing on the lower triple tree, I didn't expect this. My local Indy that is in mounting/remounting my rubber is going to press out, and press in a new steering stem bearing before/after PC'ing. No big deal I just hadn't planned for it.

Looking good! GREAT call on the bearings...I had 2 wheel bearing failures under warranty...one at 6k and the second at 13k...second one at 65 mph which did 1200 bucks damage and almost did me in...not funny...Timken or All *****, for less than 50 bucks total you don't have to worry when your going 100-110 mph...which was what I was doing 1 hour before my second bearing failure...at the track of course......................................

Awesome looking bike! That's my favorite color scheme on that bike. I can't wait to see what it looks like when you are finished.

That is going to be a great looking bike when you are done. I like to see others make all of these changes. Saves me a lot of cash over doing it myself.
