I have a set of Samson 39" cholos with the removable baffles sitting here on my living room floor. When my bike goes in for all the mods, when completed the bike is going for a Dyno tune. The guy who is going to be doing the tune told me he will take the baffles and cut them down and a little at a time to get the optimum tune. Have you ever thought of cutting your baffles down? This will be a 1st for me as well so I will post results when my bike is back home and complete.
Just my 2 cents on this from experience, (my mechanical ability is a generous 6 out of 10,,,,at this point) so if you do your own work and are learning as you go(like me), cutting and messing with your baffles (I did that, exhaust and intake and main and pilot jets (Carb bike) at the same time it can really make you pull your hair out.
On a happy note I got it done but wont try it again for awhile at least.
wanted to let you guys know.. I installed the thunder torque inserts last weekend. I don't have numbers to show you but I can tell you right off the bat that I got some of my lost low end torque back. I could tell as soon as I went for a test ride. Also, popping on decel is gone, couldn't get it to happen no matter how hard I tried. I'd recommend these for sure.
QC have you had a chance to put yours in yet?
Glad to here they worked for u man! I got a set on order along with an air cleaner. After I get my parts back from my powder coater, itll b time to put it all back together. Your bikes sweet btw
Just got my thunder torque inserts today! Waiting for everything to come back from the powder coater and than itll be time for reassembly! Ill post results!!!
+1 to dkcustoms. They are great with everything. Customer service, prices, shipping, packaging, instructions, etc!!
what's the difference between these torque baffles and the big city monster baffles?
The Thunder Torque inserts are a more sophisticated version of the "lollypop," a washer on a threaded rod. The idea is to try to control exhaust pulse reversion with minimal flow restriction. This being a very rough and basic explanation from a non-scientist. These work great, allow for a nice sound at idle, loud on hard acceleration, and pretty quiet at cruise. The BCT's are more of a traditional baffle. The inserts are about $20, the BCT's about $80.
I suppose. The Inserts are relatively "tunable" by adjusting their height and angle in the pipe and can be used in addition to stock or aftermarket baffles to further tune the performance. I have not done that, I just put them in centered in mine and ran them. I have not dynoed them but I felt an immediate increase in rideability and performance. Best bang for the buck I've made.
