flstc alarm question
I have a Heritage that came used with two keys and one fob. From what I understand if the fob is not with in a few feet of the bike it will not start. Mine the fob can be a mile away and it still starts. I was thinking the second fob was hidden on the bike somewhere but I can not find it anywhere.Today I unplugged the security box and the red light comes on and the bike still starts. Could it be the ecu has been reprogrammed or is the second fob hidden really well?
What year is your bike? If it is a 2006 or older bike, you have to arm the security by pressing and holding the button on the fob until the turn signals flash. 07's and newer security arms when the fob is a certain distance from the bike.
do your lights flash to arm and disarm??
wrap your fob in tin foil ( 2 layers )
place it away from scoot see if it still works
foil will block the signal 100%
not all fobs work the same distance - this will let u know for sure whats up with ur fob
also had any work done to the scoot at the dealer??
maybe the fob was never paired to the bike. A lot of dealers dont do this until the bike is sold. Sometimes they forget
or the dealer disabled it for service with their digital technician software
but it seems like ur onto something with the hidden fob !! u have alot of looking to get to lol alot of places to hide that sucker on that scoot!!

..can't imagine what purpose would be served by hiding a fob on the bike - kinda defeats the purpose, no?

It could be either your key fob has a dead battery or is not programmed to your bike.
I believe the security system needs to sense the key fob in order to arm itself.
Another possible and I think more likely cause is the dealer may have put the security system in "service mode".
This has to be done by the dealer during service and is done when the bike is on display to allow people to start the bike without the fob being nearby.
The dealer has to activate and deactivate the service mode.
Of course I'm not an expert on the security system.
Good luck,

Try to see if you can take it out of transport mode:
