Just put a set of E880 Metzlers on the scoot to replace the 20 year old Dunlops it had on it. If the friggin weather will break I'll find out. I've read good reviews, and just not having that groove chaser tread will make me a happy camper.
I've had Mezt on my past 4 bikes, awesome tire. Had a bad exp. with an avon on my rkc, light rain, slow turn, slid and almost ate it, since then, only mezt
Metzeler for me! But why not consider the new Metzeler ME888? I just got one from Jake Wilson for $151.99 delivered for my Heritage. I don't need to put it on yet, but grabbed the deal. It is supposed to give 25-50% more miles than the ME880. If you ride very aggressively you might want the softer Avon, but I need mileage, money is an issue, tires ain't cheap.

I was going to mention the 888 but the OP specifically did not want any other options.

Well most of us in the UK run Avons and it does rain a lot here. Never heard of anyone having any issues with grip. A tyre slipping, could be down to pressures and a host of other factors, not the ability of the tyre to grip

it might have been a fluke with the avon, but it's all about confidence in your tire, isn't it? if i had bought another avon, that slip would have always been in the back of my mine, and i wouldn't have felt comfortable riding as hard...boils down to personal taste, both are good tires

I've read that these tires are slippery. Ive read that a few different places. I would consider these if they handle good.
The Avon tires only lasted 5k on my son's Sporty. We went with Michelin Commander II for longer wear. They are really good in the rain also which he likes because he has to ride rain or shine because he blew up his truck.
