Question about the adjustable H-D side plates for sissy bar
I ordered and installed these H-D chrome detachable side plates for my Breakout. My wife feels safer riding with a back rest. We also have the sundowner passenger pillion. The problem is this, once I installed the back rest, my wife now sits a lot further forward. The back rest pad pushes up against her and this causes her legs to spread out more around my waist. She is not comfortable at all, she says. My wife is small, but it seems to be cramped in the back of the Breakout. We didn't have this problem with the Dyna Wide Glide. So, I saw that H-D makes an adjustable side plates that will fit the sissy. I paid something like $140 with tax for those chrome side plates. The adjustable side plates are $229.99. That sounds really steep. Is it worth it? Has anyone tried one on their softail? Did it help?
I thought about cutting down some of the foam pad on the back rest pad. But if I do that the back rest pad cover will become very loose and look bad.
