Had my skid lid on and as I was going down the adrenaline kicked in and I realized I was about to slam my face into the curb. I tucked my chin and my helmet caught the curb, and pulled my head back causing my face to slide accross the curb and pavement as I rolled about seven times. Road rash on my face, left shoulder, left elbow, left forearm, right elbow. My left thigh is stiff and my left knee is swollen and stiff. I'm good though guys and gals! Now to the most important part.... The bike.... It's fine lol. Needs new handlebars, riser, clutch, clutch housing, and that circular plate that bolts on to the primary cover. NO DAMAGE TO THE PAINT!!! I'm sore but in ok! God was looking out for me yesterday!
Do you think ABS would have prevented you from going down? I'm wondering if ABS is a "must have" on my next bike. Yes, and I'm glad you walked away from this one.

Good to hear you're not too bad off & you're still kickin'. I dumped a bike after a guy pulled out in front of me last Sept so I feel ya brother.

Welcome to the club, by the way.

I LOVE riding, who of us don't? I have VERY real fear's when riding my bike. I think those fears keep me as safe as one can be. Are we always 100% safe all the time? No, were not. My 2 greatest fears are having someone pull out in front of me and someone coming up behind me and hitting me while sitting at a light. All that I know who has died while riding was because of being involved in one of those two. All the one's I know who went down and didn't get hurt, did get hurt and messed up their bikes was getting caught going to fast in a curve and of course the dreaded drinking while driving. Knowing those things and it always being on my mind I feel gives me a fighting chance.Riding now knowing those things keeps me constantly alert and watching out on how to try to avoid those instances. Again I hope and pray to survive another upcoming riding season as I hope for the same for everybody else here on this site and riders everywhere.

I really appreciate the support guys. I didn't think this many would respond. I have to say I'm really sucking now. It's day two and I'm sore as hell. At least I'm alive. I can honestly say that it was my helmet that saved my life. To each their own on the helmet thing, I really don't care. I have a dad who has ridden for 18 years an never even thought about putting one on. Me personally though, il always have it. I too fear the coveted someone pulling out in front and someone rear ending. Those two freak me out something fierce but I agree that it keeps me vigilant. In all honesty, I got the best outcome. The alternative was rear ending my wife which would have hurt a hell of a lot more and would have totaled the bike. On a separate note, I want the Carlini Pist Apes to replace my previous apes. Does anyone know how much they cost for just the bars?
