Honestly if I had had that ABS I really don't think the bike would have gone down. Unfortunately 03 FXST models don't have them lol. Nevermind on the Carlini bars. I found the price. My wife has decided since she watched me go down that she no longer wants to ride with me. Kind of sucks but just means I don't have to spend money on things she wants for riding!!!! Lol

The only reason I may think of a new bike is ABS and tubeless tires, I am still shocked nobody offers a kit to add that to older models. I know it is complex and costly but probably the lack of demand due to people not really aware of their value.
As for your mishab, I spent a year almost without walking after a similar incident, so I am glad you are OK.
Once again, thanks everyone for the support. No one in my family except my dad who has been riding for 18 years understands why I still want to ride. They think it should have scared me and made me want to give it up. Needless to say only my old man and me ride. For me this is a passion. Il quit riding when I physically can't ride anymore, or am dead. Riding is in my blood and its gonna take a hell of a lot more than hitting the pavement and some road rash to turn me around.
This thing about ABS is silly. ABS is a great tool, but nothing can replace proper training and practice for applying maximum braking power.
Glad you're okay. A rough situation no matter how you look at it. I'm sure the helmet protected your head, sucks about your face, but that will heal.
I've hit the deck too, and you'll never forget it. But from here on out, use it as a training tool. In the future you might practice braking too. I upgraded the brakes on mine and spent the first part of that first ride practicing with them. Good thing too, later that day a car pulled out and I stopped less than a foot from the door. So I speak from experience.
Glad you're still with us and I applaud your attitude.
I went down last October or rather flying after a guy cut me off at an intersection. Bike was totalled. Me, bumps and bruises and I have to live with a dislocated collar bone. My full face helmet that morning saved me from any serious injury.
Like you said, bikes can be fixed and you will ride again.
