Default Better brakes

Seems lately I have had a run of luck that requires quick stops. The brakes on the Fatboy will lock up no problem. Problem I have is that skidding tires don't slow you down. My question is, would PM brake calipers or Hawg Halters provide better stopping and modulation before the wheels lock up? Want to be able to slow down quickly without wheel lock. Also don't want to spend a bunch of money on new calipers if the performance is not improved.

To my knowledge and at the risk of exposing my lack of mechanical knowledge, ABS is the only thing that will render brake modulation thereby preventing brake lock up.

It's all relative whether it's worth the $ or not but, I'm running HHI calipers and Lyndall pads and rotors and I don't lock up like I did with the stock gear. You don't notice a vast improvement in normal braking but, to know that it's there when it counts is reassuring.

My big concern with the stock brakes is that they go from not engaged to full lock without any notice. The bike does not feel like its slowing down and then both wheels lock up.

Default whowin down

I switched to a fatboy after 20 some years of dressers that all got upgraded brakes soon after I had them. The Fatboy brakes were less than awe inspiring so was shopping around for a dual front disc setup to bring them up to snuff. What I ended up with is a single PM 13" disc and 6 piston caliper. I like the setup much better now that is broken in. First few uses I was wondering if I had wasted my cash but in a few days I was liking it much better and feel I have a much more controlable brake now especially when loaded down for traveling with my bride on back. I would recommend it as a better brake with more feel. I have a stock setup on back.
