OK, so I have a 2010 Fat Boy - and I simply need do some things. The look (or lack thereof) in it's current format just doesn't cut it for me.
When I came from Street Bob to the Fatty last summer, I really thought I'd run the bike without the bags and so forth (love that stripped down, minimalistic look), but it's proven to not be real functional for me and the GF (we ride 2-up about 75% of the time).
I looked at a few RKs, but the price differential is just too much for me at this time.
So here's my thoughts for the Fatty:
1. Get new, larger LP bags. The current bags are just too small and do not look great with the ProPipe.
2. Add a Highway/Engine bar.
3. New backrest pad (that current one is just hideous, functional, but hideous).
4. Work on blacking out a few engine pieces (with the intent to black out most things as time goes on).
So I guess at the end of the day, the Fatty will be more like a Fat Bagger.
Any thoughts and input you guys/gals might have would be much appreciated.
Before Misbehaven see's this thread, remove those front reflectors off the forks. Other than that, modifications are a personal thing. Do what you want, look what others do. Take that combination and make something your own way.
1) There are very large sissy bar bags (backpacks) that can hold a ton, if you were looking for more storage.
After add up all those mods you might as well trade for a bagger. I know here in MI dealers have tons of tourer and you could get a really good deal on some new or used one. Think about the road king comes with bigger locking bags, windshield, cruise control (optional), air suspension, tubeless tires. I had 2009 road king and 11 ultra limited and both were great two up. Get the king. You know you want it.

Believe me, I hear ya. But I've checked with a few dealers around here and the price differential is just way to big. I've paid cash for all my bikes, so a loan for the difference is not really something I'm interested in.
I plan on spending about $1,500-2,000 for this round, and that is WAY below what the cost differential for a RK is.
I have the same year and color. I am going with a basically stock look with some performance mods. I am adding a VC5, V&H slip ons, and a K&N filter which fits under the stock air cleaner cover. I bought mine used and the previous owner added a windshield, highway bar, and passenger backrest.
