today i just started my bike and was moving it when i put it in first with the kickstand down is that supposed to happen? ive never had a bike where you could just take off wuth the kickstand down some info please
Mine will go with the stand down too, but my old Yamaha will instantly die if you put it in gear with the stand down.
They call it a safety thing, and I can understand how it might be a problem for some.
But I think its justone more example of thenanny state mentality.
Keeps dumbasses from rolling off with their stand locked down and pollvaulting on the first left turn.

Please don't go suing Harley over the issue. Without digging mine up and looking, I'll bet there's some serious warning's in the owner's manual about putting the "jiffy stand" up before you take off... that should cover their liability.
