Read through posts on 07 transmission problems. A lot of very unhappy Harley owners out there. Most of the posts are by bagger owners and seem to be about sounds like marbles in coffee cans. It also appears this problem is being handled by HD as normal transmission sounds. In other words a lot of folks who have purchased expensive equipment from HD are getting blown off.
I've seen posts in the dyna section and have to admit because this was an issue for 07 and I own an 06, I didn't pay much attention. My dyna has a six speed with a little noise, but nothing as extensive as is reported by 07 owners.
Like to know if there is any update on how HD is handleing this problem. And since I think all 07 have 6 speed how are other bikes, dyna, soft tail, and sportys if relevant running?

One reasonable theory I heard is that the windshields/fairings on baggers refract more of the tranmission's sound up and back to the rider.
I'm pleased with the performance of my '07 NT's tranny.

I read here in the forum a few weeks back that the gearing is "taller" so you should shift gears at a higher RPM than your used to. Shifting at your "normal" speed like the 5-speed transmission could cause "lugging" and the noise that has been reported by others.
Read this from another member in the touring section.
I'd agree with that. My FLSTC is fine, as long as I don't change up into 5th at anything below 50 - if I do I get a faint whining sound - that's all. Change up at 50 and it's fine. I can live with that.

I think you are describing the engine noises (rocks in a can) because of the leanness from the factory. I cured 90% of this with a PCIII. I have not heard any transmission noises.
