So I finally got the dough (mostly) together to buy the bike I've been pining over. I spoke with the dealer this weekend and he quoted me $21,400 out the door on a new 2007 two-tone deuce with the factory alarm. He said this number was for the sale at MSRP but obviously that's sort of meaningless because all the really matters is the sum of the sale price and the rest of the fees which are pretty arbitrary. I worked backwards and it looks like the various freight, assembley, doc fees must total about $1800. Obviously, I'll offer him less but I'm wondering how much less. Just curious if anyone wanted to share their out the door price (including fees, taxes, license) on a late model Deuce. Thanks!
I paid 21,500.00 for my '06 leftover, but the dealer had already installed the radical paint set ($4200.00), SE pro double barrel exhaust ($550.00), SERT ($450.00), and siren module ($90.00) for the factory alarm.
the only thing that added to my "out the door" price was sales tax, and that was 3%.
my bike stockMSRP'd at $15,999.99, no freight or setup fees.[8D]
Hey Deuce, thanks for taking the time to reply. MSRP with the alarm and two-tone paint is $18,300. I think that sales tax is 7.95% which puts MSRP + tax at 19764. The number he gave me was $21,454 - so that leaves about $1700 unaccounted for. I don't generally do a lot of negotiating for vehicles, I just figure out a fair number, make the offer and if they pass I just walk. It's easier to walk away from a car though Thanks again for the information.
Mileage will vary, as they say. Different states and dealers will handle these differently if at all but here's an idea of where that unaccounted for $1700 might be going...(reference taken from a CA motorcycle purchase agreement form). A few bucks here and there can easily add up to that $1700 figure. After MSRP and tax, anticipate some, all, or more than the following:
With my deuce i got the dealer to eat the cost of prep fees and shipping fee's.
I saved about five hundred. That is about all you can deal with are the extra fees. msrp is non negotiable at most dealers unless you get a desperate dealer.
I paid 20000 and some change for a 04 new, but that included big radius pipes and stage one kit.
WOW, i gotta say, if you're gonna spend 20K on a bike you better get a serious bike with some serious upgrades. I cant see paying that kind of cash for a stock softail, Deuce, chrome, tank and all. (btw, I love the look of the Deuce, so Im a fan of the bike, I just dont understand the price)

what type of harley is worth 20k to you?[sm=biker2.gif]
my buddy bought an '06 leftoverDyna that cost him a little over 19k about the same time I bought my Deuce, If you're looking at a new bike, it's about what the bigger bikes are going for these days, the only thing that's very affordable is a sportster, but I wanted something thatI wouldn't "outgrow" in a year.
and I knew I wouldn't be happy with a sportster.
