Default What the hell is this thing?

So I set out to do a minor mod to my bike, which ended up being a huge pain in my ***. In order to get to the bolt I needed to get to I had to take off my mud flap, and then ti get enough sweep with the socket wrench I happened to have I ended up having to take off the upper belt guard. Once I got the bolt I needed in and tight I ended up finding out that for whatever reasons the bolts I had in the upper belt guard weren't going to fit , and the rearmost bolt I couldn't even get into the hole because the rear belt sprocket was blocking the hole.

After messing around with it for over an hour I finally decided that the only way I was going to get it in was to drop the rear tire, mount the belt guard and then put the tire back on. Having not dropped a rear tire on my bike before I was a little apprehensive to say the least, but I needed to get the bike back together so I just went ahead and did it. Anyway, after getting everything back together I looked on the floor and found this thing. At first I thought it was off the axle, but the hole is too small and I can't find it in the diagram for the rear wheel in the shop manual. I really don't have any idea where it's supposed to go, but it looks like it's something that might be important, and I don't want to ride the bike without knowing whether or not it's something that's going to wreck my bike or cause my rear end to seize up if it isn't on.

Any help is appreciated.

Pic is a bit blurry, but it looks like half of a bearing? Doesn't resemble anything I've seen on the bike. Are those beads captive in the ring? Do you have any shop equipment that has swivel casters that maybe aren't swiveling too well anymore? Hopefully some more will chime in, but doesn't look to me like it came off the scoot.

That's what I thought, part of a bearing with at least one ball missing.
Off a caster from his chair maybe? Lawnmower, furniture dolly?

Thanks for the replies guys, I ended up figuring it out this morning when I went out to take a picture that showed it's size. Last night I was pretty deep into the rum by the time I saw it on the ground directly under the bike and automatically assumed it came off the rear wheel I had just taken off.

Turns out it busted off the shitty $20 Harbor Freight shop stool I was using last night. When I flipped the stool over this morning another one fell off another corner. I'm just glad I busted a stool instead of something on the bike.

Thanks again.

Should have probably stopped drinking about two hours earlier last night and I probably would have figured it out myself right away. It's dangerous this time of year, guys see your garage door open and next thing you know you've got two or three other guys in there drinking and the next thing you know it's 1am and you're hammered and posting on HDForums trying to figure out what some random piece is that ends up not even being off your bike.

Yeah, problem is I don't drink a lot of beer most of the time, so we were drinking rum and rye (not together) all night, and the longer we were out there the stronger we were making them. I was good and toasted by the time I called it a night.
