I have been riding touring bikes for the past several years and yesterday I traded my RK in in a new deluxe.
I might be having a senior moment but I seem to remember reading that Softail cats are in the mufflers as opposed to the head pipes. Is this indeed a fact?
If so, hello slip ons.
Well I just got a 2013 Heritage back in March. And guess what? Go ahead guess? Yes, Yes, Yes, (that's what she said, lol) they were in the mufflers. And yes, I said hello to Vance and Hines straight shot slip-on's. The dealer offered to put them on for free but I did them myself. Removal and install total time when the bike only had 75 miles on the clock took me 45 minutes.
I assume (*** of u and me) that your Deluxe cat's are in the muffler also.
OH, and I just completed a five day vacation ride of 1,076 miles around Colorado and northern New Mexico and the bike ran fine.
I pulled the stock baffles out and cut off the cat end. then reinstalled the shortened baffle. the mufflers sound surprisingly good without being obnoxiously loud.
Many thanks for the replies. V&H slip ons are on the way. Now can anyone help me find the front O2 sensor connector? I found the rear one under the seat, just hate to start cutting all the ties to find the front one. And I do have a service manual ordered.

Thanks
The front connector is under the regulator cover near the oil filter.

Thanks! I just went out and looked, and there it is. The reason I am looking is that I have a vied that I had on my RK that I want to install until I change out the filter, pipes and go with a full blown tuner.
I let the bike cool down and took off the seat and looked around. Needless to say, softails are a lot different than touring bikes.
