Today my dad and i put on the se hybrid cam plate 203 cams new bearings, new lifters, and adjustable pushrods, changed oil and spark plugs.
everything seemed to go smooth well that was until we started the bike bike fired right up but the oil light is still on and the bike seems really loud and there seems to be a little bit of tick in the top end?
used screaming eagle adjustable push rods. put them to zero slack and then went 2.5 full turns per instruction sheet.
what could i have done wrong. i followed the fuel moto and j&p cycles videos step by step. like i said everything seemed to go really smooth.
we started the bike and let it run for about 2 min but the oil light never went out. any suggestions other than have it towed to a stealership and them figure it out for "ONE MILLION DOLLARS"?
realign the oil pump. Gotta get the cam cover off again, leave the pushrods as you have it. Loosen the four bolts that secure the oil pump to the cam plate. Get the back tire off the ground, bump it up to 5th or 6th gear and rotate the engine a few revolutions then tighten the pump bolts as you turn the back wheel. (pull the plugs so it turns over easier.) Other possible cause is O-ring pinched on the back of the pump.
You sure you put oil in? Had to ask.
O-ring on oil pump tube and their ports in the block?
Don't take it to the dealer, take the cover back off and retrace your steps.
Lifters may take some time to pump up if you didn't prime them.
Did the oil pump come already attached to the cam plate? If it did and you thought it was aligned properly I would say that is definitely the problem. If you did assemble it did you get the gears in the right order?
you know what asm your right now that i think about it. i went back through everything in my head and i put the oil pump together wrong. i went sprocket thing, washer or spacer what ever it is, spring washer, sprocket thing and washer or spacer and it should be sprocket, washer, spring washer, washer, sprocket thing. thanks..... that just came to me after reading your post and looking at the instructions. ill have to tear it back apart this week and fix that. since i put everything back togheter should i buy a new oil pump o ring again? and those two brown orings? i put 0 miles on and bike only ran for under 2 min.
If when you pull it apart the o-rings aren't ripped or pinched I would reuse with no worry. Heck I have used all the gaskets over doing what you are going to do. Hope your exhaust comes off easy. Worst part of that chore on my bike.
