Next on the list is trimming that big plastic license plate holder. Going to get the drill out after bit, slide the plate up, drill 4 new holes higher on the bracket. Then use it for a template to mark then trim that godawful looking piece of plastic. Will try to get some before and after pics of it as well.

I just nixed mine completely. I'll have to get some photos. It's probably best to remove it to mod it, but keep in mind, it's a bitch to do. You have to remove the outer strut covers and bolts holding it on. I just took my angle grinder to mine when I was putting on a bigger wheel and tucked the plate light connections up with the turn signal wires. I put a side mount plate with new lights on the axle. WV has vertical plates too, so it's totally legal here.

Have you considered dropping the *** end? That bike would look real nice sitting down another inch or two in the back.

Project #2 completed for the week. Scroll saw, a bit of patience, and my dremel with a sanding drum and viola!!! Lost about 1 1/2" of plastic off of the bottom, and 3/4" off of each side. Drilled 4 holes using my license plate holder as a template and the old bullet style acorns to hold her down. The chrome holder actually snaps into place over the plastic.

Actually I have thought it over. This bike is destined to play the 2 up role. It was my wifes idea to buy #7, so I have to maintain the comfort factor for her. Shortening those shocks makes the ride a tad sharper, and for a softail it rides rather nice with the both of us on it right now. It's not that I wouldn't love to, but I am trying to make it comfy for SWMBO.(She Who Must Be Obeyed) "Pronounced Swimbo" :P

I went my way because the front with a new tire on it was $200 and came with a rear Chrome one off a Fatboy. Rear was only 15 x 3, so I sold it on Ebay. I was trying to go your way but never found a good deal and on mine you can barley see the junk Harley put on. I hit it with a bright pad one in a while and when I put a new tire on. HA
