Electrical Issue

In the last month I have blown the fuse to my headlights twice and there have not been any additions put on my bike recently. 1 year ago I added the light kit to the front & are running Halogen bulbs. 6 Months ago added high flow air cleaner, Power Commanderiii USB & Vance & Hines Longshots. I have been caught in the rain a dozen times or so. I replaced all the mini fuses with new ones & checked wiring for bare spots. Does anyone know if adding the halogen light kit draws too close to the 15amp fuse limit that it would make it blow & could I put a 20 amp fuse in there without cooking my harness. Since I have put in the new fuses they have been OK.

Try the 20 amp,it won't cook your harness.......If that blows....You have a short to find.

don't you have to add balist for halogen light?

No ballast on a halogen light. I just recently helped a neighbor with the same problem. He almost was at the point of stripping the wiring harness out of the bike and i asked a basic question "Did you check the lamp?" Lo and behold the lamp element had burned out and was touching the shell of the lamp. $8.00 later and everything was ok. Oh sorry total bill for him 12 fuses and a lot of beer. The morale of this story that I have found, is that sometimes it helps to walk away and ask for help or another set of eyes to see what you might not see.

I just thought with the after market xenon light had a balest that had to be installed inside of light fixture, that's why i'm not going to go any further electricly accept for the lower license plate holder with led light above plate , i thought about couple of lizard light's, but then thought of to much crap booger's up bike, and your battery (fuse's) and i still have E.F.I headache , and S.E.R.T ,Even I could work on my superglide, mind overload.
