Still waiting for my parts. I shipped them to my cousin in New York. He stripped them all down and took them to the powdercoater this past Friday. I'm going to call tomorrow to get an update. It's so close to being done and the wait is driving me nuts. I got my new headlight mounted. I tested my new rear LED lights and they are all good to go, but I can't run wires until I get the rear fender back. So now it's just sitting there. The good part of having nothing else to do is that I was under the bike with Simple Green and an old toothbrush scrubbing all the little spots that otherwise never, ever get seen or cleaned well.

I just got an email from my cousin. He said the guy doing the color called him yesterday morning and it's all done. He's going to pick it up tonight after work. If he ships it tomorrow then I should have it by Thursday. That means I might be riding it Friday. This week is going to go by so slooooooowly.

I did the Heartland 180 kit, but haven't added the 180 yet. i wanted to ride it for a while and make sure everything with the fender and electrics were right before I added the wider tire. I love it, but it does take getting used to. I mounted my fender as low as I could, but it still looks like a dirtbike from the rear. It's at Harley now getting the lowering kit as well as a 95 inch upgrade with 211 cams. I can't wait.

I wrote an article on Bikernet.com about the installation. You can check it at Bikernet.com and type Heartland into the google search option. Enjoy the bike, I know I do.

Well, I got it finished. I had the tins powdercoated a semi-gloss black. I wanted something close to the denim paint, but it came out a little more glossy. It was only $90, so I can't complain. This will be a whole lot easier to take care of than paint. I don't have to worry about dings and chips and such. I got it to ride, not worry about scratches and all that crap.

I only ran into one problem - when I hooked up my new rear LED run/turn/brake lights, I had three wires. Black was ground, orange was run and red was turn/brake. Everything was okay until the red wire. I hooked it up and tested brake. Perfect. Then I hooked it up and tested turn. Perfect, again. When I hooked it to both the turn AND brake wires, it was like the brake light stayed on and wouldn't dim to just the run function. The turn signal worked, but it flashed from hi to low and then back to hi. Does that make sense? How do I get the true turn and brake to work properly off of one wire that connects to both on the main harness?

Anyway, here are pictures of the bike all together again. I also added the Kuryakyn flush-mount gas cap and matching LED gas/battery gauge.

Great job, Dick.
I think theshine is just about perfect. Not too glossy, andmore eye popping than a flat black.

Thanks, guys. I took it out last night for the first official test ride. Only a couple miles because it was freezing cold and I don't have a plate light yet, but it rides pretty good. I'm gonna take it to work tomorrow for a good highway break-in. I came out of the gas station and almost forgot that it was my bike. It looks so different now.

Jakazz, I'm definitely interested in that black dash. I've been poking around eBay for one. How much would you want for it? It's the same as the '04 dash, right? PM me with the details and we'll work it out. Thanks for the offer!!
