You guys don't know it, but you've been helping me a lot.
I've been mulling over which type of bike to get, and I finally settled on a 2005 Deluxe. I picked it up on Saturday. The hundreds of posts I've read on hdforums made a big difference in what I chose.
Of couse, it promptly rained for 2 days straight, so I haven't gotten riding time since I got it home, but spring is coming soon (daylight savings time starts early this year!) and I'm ready to roll.
Pipes are baloney cut SEs. The original owner had done stage I and the 95" pistons and rings done, but not the cams.
I'm furiously working out what to do about the seat. I'm 6' and 185 and need to soften that thing up and move it back/down a bit. I've found the threads about amss and harley seats (Bar Enterprises). I don't really want to be without the bike for too many weeks. Might have to buy a substitute for the time being.
After that, I hope to put a few thousand miles on it before doing anything else. We'll see how long that plan holds up.

Well, you are going to have to change your name from "uglylou" to "handsomelou" or something else. You CAN'T be ugly sittin on that sweet ride!! My wife has an 07, (check out the sig on ultrapassenger). She is 5-7, and has long arms, but found the reach to the bars just a little uncomfortable for her. We put the mini apes from a Softail Custom on it. That changed the seating position by the different position of the grips. SHE LOVES IT!!! Just something to look at before dropping serious coin on a seat. If you do this change out, you need 4" longer cables.
