My brother has a 2006 heritage softail springer with a stage one. It was dynotuned a year ago and always ran like a champ.
Now it is stumbling at idle, in fact won't idle and lower speeds. If he guns it, it smooths out a little. At the same time this started his fuel pump sounds different, almost like its sucking air a bit. His tank is full now but I suspect either a pin hole in the line or a clogged filter. I would think if the fuel pump was bad you wouldn't hear it at all.
Can anybody advise what else it may be? Haven't taken the dash and plate off yet.
I think you're gonna hear from a few guys that have had to replace the fuel lines because of the new fangled gasoline we have. Some of the additives of the most recent years were not prevalent when the fuel lines were chosen by the moco.
Kind of like our homes and the chlormaine in many municipal water supplies. Black rubber gaskets are being slowly destroyed. See almost all plumbing gaskets are orange and red now.
If he is having issues when the tank is not full but, works fine when full, them more than likely its the pin hole in the gas line.
Mine would start missing about 80-90 miles into a tank, fill her again and she'd run perfect till another 80-90 miles.. It is the pin hole in the gas line that causes that.
