I have my bike since october 2012, I live in Fort Lauderdale Florida, she sleeps in the air conditionned garage.
I was cleaning it today and found out the spokes were rough. After inspection, I realize it was rust. Some of the lighter "oxydation" was removed after trying different products but the damage is pretty bad.
I do take the occasional ride by the beach but clean the bike often.
I am crazy about this bike but very disapointed about that.
i have had many other motyorcyles in Florida that never did that with the same type of riding.
What do you guys think?
Was it bad quality? Did my $17k bike received part from China?
I am afraid it is going to be a fight with the new dealer since Rossmeyer of Fort Lauderdale where I bought it was sold to Chester.
Dude thats no bueno. If the dealer doesn't make good on it I would contact HD customer service and work with them. They usually make good on there products. It doesnt matter if it were up north in the dead of winter, with 3500 miles, something isn't right.
I heard from a guy a while back who just bought a new 2012 HD Dyna.
He lived and rode near the beaches out in LA and he had the same issues.
There's not much you can do about that saltwater air...
Is your car the same way?
I had the same issue two years ago. I contacted HD directly and put the complaint through them and said that I wanted to put it through them so that if it was a wider problem the issue would not stay isolated at my local dealer.
HD to their credit put me in touch with one of their HD dealerships and they replaced all the effected parts. I did not have an issue again in the time I had the scoot. The dealership said they see it happen 1 in about 500 and it appears to just be bad luck... I could also have been fed a load of crap but I didnt care because my rusty parts were changed out.

My 2011 F150 is as good as day one. No pitting. My Nissan 2004 Titan was as good as day one when I sold it at 150K miles and 7 years.
My Triumph Bonneville 2002 with spoke wheels was untouched after 29k miles. Same riding same garage.
I am really bummed. by it.

Thanks for the kind words. 1 in 500 I have a hard time swallowing that one.
I will contact them tomorrow.
If you live near the ocean you need to clean your bike...a lot. I live 5 miles from the ocean and the bike will get cleaned at least once a week as it is ridden daily.
I live in West Palm Beach - about 10mins from the beach. When I ride A1A, I can see build up of some sort - my girl says it's from the salt air, so I was washing after every ride !! Whew !!
I was reading a bike magazine and read about this corrosion inhibitor - Scottoiler FS 365. I ordered a bottle and tried it - the stuff works wonders. I haven't had not one piece of chrome or bolt to look like it even wants to begin to corrode/rust.
Hope the MoCo works with you to remedy your issue.
