I live along the coast too and was my bike at least once a week if I drive it on beachside. I have used inox for awhile on bolts to keep them from rusting.
I worked for a Harley dealer as a service manager and the warranty states that rust is not a condition of warranty. They will tell you it is your responsibility to keep you ride from rusting. Hope they make it good....

Thanks for your input.
I hope they step up to the plate as I could make very bad publicity for them. If they don't, it will be a long battle. They would lose more customers and money than the cost of parts. ..but I know they will try to screw me. I am ready for it.
Man I have seen bikes that sit outside here in Florida that dont look that bad. Hopefully they will work something out for you. Are both wheels the same? Seems like if the 1 in 500 thing was correct it would be only one wheel. I mean what are the chances that you would get 1 in 500 on both?
That is real unfortunate, stay on top of your bike and clean it at least once a week because living next to the ocean has a negative affect on it and make sure to dry it thoroughly.

Only the front one is messed up. I am not that (un) lucky. If that were the case, It would be 2 in 1000 on my bike, I would buy a lottery ticket, win the jackpot, ditch the Slim and buy a new bike with gold plated everything...at least it won't rust.
