What would cause the speed odometer to stop working along with the 6th gear light to go out and then 20 miles later both start working again? Would this also cause the turn signals to stay on after turning? This is on a 08 heritage softail.
Bad or dirty speed sensor! Lots of those going around recently. It will cause you to lose speedo, sigs won't self cancel, and the bike may stall when pulling in the clutch.
It's on top of the trans, right side of bike. The connector is in front of the splash guard, also on right side. Pull it and clean the magnet. If that doesn't help, it's a $65 part at the dealer.
