I bought a slim 3 weeks ago, Love it! I really can not think of a con that is worth posting.
I test rode a slim and a fatboy Lo, I went with the slim!
I am vertically challenged and went from a 05 Lowrider to the slim, The slim fits me perfect I am flat footed and the bike has floorboards just put a quick detach HD windshield on it. I need to do a sissy bar for a tour pack and all is good/great
Don't know what your experience with Harleys is, but I moved up from a nightster. I test rode a slim fb lo, and blackline.
Pros for me: seat height-I'm 5'10". I fit ok on most bikes but I personally like the low sitting bikes because I like to be able to put my feet flat on the ground without hitting the air cleaner, primary, or exhaust. The ride is way smoother than the Nightster. The engine doesn't vibrate as bad and the suspension is softer. I've done several 300-500 mile days no problem. It also cruises smooth on the highway with the six speed.
Cons: bike runs real hot. Significantly hotter than the Nightster. I ended up doing fuel management, air cleaner, and slip ons. The bike runs much cooler.
I picked it over the low mostly due to looks. I like the Bonner style. It was much smoother on uneven pavement and highway than the blackline.
Reminds me of my 59 pan in a rigid frame, and engine ran just as hot.took cats out and installed power commander and still ran hot, so devised these pipes and runs cooler.
After owning a Slim over a year.
Pros: Retro, Looks, Many to list
Cons: (IMO) I hope this doesn't start a argument
1. The stock seat It looks great but hard as hell.
2. The slim doesn't come with a passenger sit, or pegs. Just be warn don't buy the HD pillions seat. Your girl will not want to ride with you if you do.
3. The Spoke wheel. Not some much a con but if you a catch nail/flats. You will definitely need a tow and have to replace the tire and tube.
4. You will scrap time from time with the floorboards. The bike sits low. But then what Harley doesn't scrape.
