I recently decided to add a set of Carlini Gangsters to my 07' Train. Here is a before pic:
And here it is all complete:

For those of you that plan on doing this yourself, here are a few tips:
-Take your time
-The bung on the left side of the tank is a quick disconnect. Don't move the tank even a little without removing this or your project will get $50 more expensive. The stock connection is very brittle, the new one is much better.
-Don't go off other members measurements for your cables. I did and ended up having to pay a restocking fee to get new ones. With that being said, Maria at Magnum Shielding is amazing and helped me out a lot through this install.
-Get the NAMZS 24" wire kit and cut and stagger your splices. It gives you everything you need and makes doing the wires much easier.
Any questions, feel free to PM me and ask.
-Rich

Thanks. Those are 14" 1.50 Gangsters with the Bra risers. I'm 5'9" and the way I have them set the bars are just slightly higher than my shoulders.
When I took it for the first ride all that was going through my head was "I spent almost a grand on this?!?" But after the second day on it I began to feel much more comfortable. It takes a little getting use to. I knew it was going to look sick, but I did it for other reasons. I have back issues and I read about how apes have helped other members, I also needed more pullback than my stock bars offered. With the stockers I was leaning forward and it was not pleasant to ride for an extended period of time.
Installing these solved all my problems. I left the stock rubber bushings in, and the bars flex more than I'd like but for now I can deal with it. Unfortunately for me, no one I know has these bars on a Softail so this was a shot in the dark. I would have really liked to take a spin on one before I dropped the coin but it all worked out in the end.
I am in the same boat. I am doing it to change the looks of my bike AND medical reasons. I also didn't know anyone so it's a shot in the dark for me too. I guess by wends. or thurs. I will find out when I get my bike back but I am not going to judge them until I get a few miles on them. I also got the 14" gangsters with the bra but I did go with stiffer bushings up front too. I'm also changing to a hydraulic clutch so I can run everything through the bars. Time and a few miles will tell.

I am thinking about going from my fatboy bars to heritage bars.. Ive already added 3" risers with a 1" lean back and it made a difference but, as you pointed out, I cannot tolerate any forward lean in terms of my back.. you look to be the same size as me.. so my question is, since I really dont care for apes, did you need to go that high? Im not sure how tall the heritage bars are but I suspect a good 4" less than yours.. and much much cheaper as Im sure I could use all stock cables from a heritage...
I was thinking Id stick with my 1" leanback risers on the heritage bar.. of course, the higher you go, the more leanback you get due to the angle of the front forks....
so, curious about your thoughts on lower "apes" since it seems we have the same back... right now, I can only ride an hour and I MUST get off the bike.. and I want to get off sooner.. not cool.
