Stock FatBoy decel popping
This bike was purchased a year ago new and never rode just sat in the garage this bike was won in a raffle and the owner doesn't ride. Also this bike is completely stock and is just as it came off the show room floor with with no exhaust or engine modifications.
The owner said that he would start it up and warm it up every two to three weeks. So today I go and ride the bike to check it out before I purchase it.
I only went for a short 3 mile ride and not above 35 mph as the owner doesn't have insurance on the bike.
So anyway right off the get go I noticed decel popping as I was shifting, it seemed to get better as I rode the bike but still had some of the decel pop during shifting and on decel as I finished the ride. I noticed the tank was low on fuel but the owner said he recently put 1.5 gallons of Shell 93 octane fuel in the tank and he added a little bit of seafoam in the tank.
So it seems the bike has been stored with the tank almost empty for the past year which includes the colder Midwest winter. Everything else on the bike looked good and sounded good and the oil level and condition where good.
So what do you guys think? Could the bike not having been rode for a year be the reason for the decel pop? Like I said the pop seemed to get better during the latter portion of the short ride and i didn't notice any sound of an air or exhaust leak. What else would you guys look at before purchasing the bike? How concerned should I be about the bike being stored with the low amount of fuel in the tank?
I need to know what you guys think before I buy this bike tomorrow.
The bike still has one year left on the factory warranty.
Thanks

If any problem still persists, drop it off at the dealer for some warranty repair.

I have read to not even start up a new bike unless it is going out on the road. I am no mechanic, maybe others will chime in on the subject.
