Bought new Samson Cholo exhaust. Transmission shifter arm not located correctly according to factory manual. Too far forward and hits new exhaust system. Has anyone had to readjust this arm? If so what procedure did you use without Major disassembly?

I have the same problem, 09 deluxe with Sampson true duals, the cross over is touching the rocker box already so it can't be any farther forward, the shifter hits it when I try to put it on first gear just so slightly, but enough that I have to apply extra pressure to pass the neutral point. I will be watching this post for an answer.
Just remove one end of the shift rod and shorten or lengthen to position the shifter were you like it. If it appears there will not be enough travel, loosen and remove the bolt on the shift lever and re-index the shift lever on the spline. Be careful to not loose the o-ring seal. Might want to clean and lube the shaft with a little neck bearing grease if you index lever.
Adjusting the linkage will only adjust the position of the shift peg. In order to adjust the the position of the shift arm on the trans, the arm needs to be removed and re-indexed. In order to do so, at least on my train, the primary needs to be removed. There wasn't enough room to slide the shift arm far enough out to rotate it on the spline shaft. You could give it a shot and see if it works for you though....
Maybe others will chime in with a simpler fix, like take a mallet and put a little dent in the pipe......

Yea what he said.
First I would check to see if the arm is loose on the tran shift shaft. These have a tendency to loosen up and wear the shaft. If not, Like Jrichart said, you might be able to loosen up the arm and rotate one grove but make sure that is good and tight. This is probably one of HD worst/cheapest designs. Mine got lose, wore the shaft and I ended up replacing it with a better lever.
Can't believe with all the cholos in here someone hasn't chimed in. My understanding is the link must be bent to clear the left pipe, but I've been wrong before.
