Problem with parts
So I'm trying to replace my bleeder and rear master cylinder cover on my 2006 Deuce. I have attached a picture. The original bleeder has an o-ring and less threads. The new one doesn't. The master cylinder cover is matte finished has a short gasket. The old has larger gasket and is shinny.
These parts don't look right but the dealer says they are. Any advice?

Hey guys, I was having a similar problem a while back with bleeders. I just went and got me Speedbleeders and it was all good. Never have to worry about having problems again with any leaks and especially bleeding your brakes. No more Mighty Vacs and any other home made devices. It works wonders when it comes to bleeding the brakes. I believe I paid 17.00 bucks to my door. Well, enough of my 02. cents. Ride safe all...

I've never seen a master cylinder cover as dull as your old one. It almost looks like someone sprayed it with flat black paint.
I had similar concerns with my bleeder valve about a year ago. I stripped the front one trying to get it off. When I picked up the replacement at Harley it looked exactly like the one you posted. My old one looked like your old one. I took the new one back to Harley and told them my concerns. They talked to the tech and he said that the top part of the valve has nothing to do with sealing in the fluids and that its the pointed tip on the end of the valve that does the sealing. I went back home and installed the new bleeder and sure enough, it worked just fine. They said the old shape with the oring was not to keep the fluid from leaking but rather to keep dirt and grime from getting into the threads... Which...I guess they did away with that design in order to allow dirt and grime into those threads and possibly get more business from master cylinder repairs...? Either way...the new valve you posted should work...
