When I did mine I realized that when I plugged it into the data connector and turned on the ignition it did not transfer data until I turned on my run switch.
I have one of these speedo/tach's arriving soon, and I sure hope it comes with clear instructions - take the guesswork out of it.
The instructions that came with mine were very clear. They specifically tell you what positions the run switch and ignition switch are supposed to be in when transferring the data from the ECM. Also the directions on programming the features are very clear too.

No, the run switch was on, I saw that in the directions as a reason it won't download so I made sure it was on. I never use that switch to turn it off, it's always on.

I had no issues with this instructions, by the looks of it mine was previously installed in another bike. The install is very easy.
I sent them an email through their system and also a warranty claim through their system. That was on Thursday, they claim 72 hr response time. Sent them another email today. If I don't get a response by tomorrow I will make a call to them and see whats going to be done about this.
If this proves out to be a used or previously installed speedo, I would be tempted to take that said speedo, and marry it to the a$$ of the people who sold it to me.
Now that's just me, but I am old and grumpy and I never slept at a Holiday Inn Express.

I see the red! They are a Harley dealer and did not advetise the part as used. As a matter of fact I had to wait for them to ship it as they didn't have the part in stock. Now I wish I just went to a local dealer and bought the part. Handling this in person is better then through emails.
Not trying to be an asshat, just I've been burned and read of others that I trust the intranet less than a crackwhore..
FYI, I had that problem when I put in my Tmax. There was a procedure from Tmax that had to be performed to mate it. It worked perfectly after that. Any chance you have a Tmax on your ride?
