security pin w/analogue speedotach

Default security pin w/analogue speedotach
I recently installed the 5'' speedotach combo on my 2008 softail deluxe and am lovin' it. however, I tried to change the security pin and it doesn't seem to follow the routine in the owner's manual. The install instructions included with the new speedo does not mention the pin setting procedure, so I assumed it was the same as the old speedo. Does anyone have any ideas or experience with this issue? Thanks

problem solved. The procedure works fine if you turn the engine run switch to on before you start the procedure.
