Ok, so I want to put a set of apes on my Breakout, but I do not want to use the tall stock risers.
The dilemma here is that the speedo is built into the top riser. These factory risers and handlebar are also 1.25".
My first thought was to put Fatboy lower risers with the Breakout upper. This will not work. The Fatboy risers use larger diameter bolts, and are also too wide to fit. The sides would stick out past the Breakout upper, and also there is a tab that hangs down on the Breakout upper that interferes with the Fatboy lowers. No way to make this work and look decent without heavy machine work.
Next thought was to use the lowers from a CVO Breakout as they have short risers. This also will not work as the CVO has the speedo built into the bottom mount, and the top is just a cap. You could use the entire thing(upper and lower risers), but the price is ridiculous.
Does anyone else have any ideas for a 1.25" riser bottom that would work? Or any other suggestions for getting lower risers on this bike?
I don't really want to relocate the speedo as I have yet to see a place that I think it looks clean.
If you look at the CVO Breakout those risers might work. They are alot shorter and mount the speedo on the lower part. I believe that they are also the risers the MoCo ships with the mini-ape kit they sell for the Breakout.
My post was to show a guy who put different bars on his bike with the stock speedo and hardware....LOL
Yeah, I have no intention of using apes with the stock tall risers. That is the point of this thread.

Yes, I think this would work if you buy the top and bottom pieces, but just those 2 pieces cost more than the bars alone. So I am looking for another solution.

Outside of the CVO setup, pickins are slim if you want to use the non cvo top clamp and bucket. I've exhausted the search, believe me. When you find those risers, let me know. this thread won't go far unless the moco releases some new chit after the dealer show.
