Seems like the SG cost more for less of what you want. EGC is a good fit.

My Heritage is an 07. Fitted shotgun shocks at Christmas, transformed the ride. I have been going to sell my softie every year for the past 3, but I then go on a long trip and it never lets me down, I can ride 500 miles plus a day, with no aches or pains. So I end up keeping it. Will have a look at the 14 SG though, but will probably keep my Heritage. Wish I could have two bikes

It is clear: some bikers love the HC and others like the SG. Like one likes rice and the other patatoes. But what I miss here, is the fact that a bike can be adapted to the purpose one likes. My HC 2003 is fully adapted for the long haul, making easily 800-900 kilometers per day over the highways. Wide beachbar Road King style, windshield with lower protection on the front forks, deep bucket saddle with backrest, highway steps, adjustable baffles in my 3" slip-ons. Comfortable footboards for my wife 'at the back' most of the rides.
After 800-900 kilometers over the highways in Western Europe (one of worlds busiest highways) I am physically completely fit, but mentally less because of the numerous aggresive cagers on the roads and defensive riding is exhausting.
My 88B is not vibrating at any speed, running smoothly but indeed a 'sixt' would be preferable (after the '92 cubic all HC have this 6-speed).
And yes, a SG, a EGClassic, a Goldwing are probably better on the highway, more comfortable, have sound systems.
But when I require sound systems during a ride, I take my SUV with 6x 400W speakers and 5 x a Bass Speaker...When I require a 'smooth riding bike" I better take a slow train to my destination. But experiencing the riding, the versatility of my bike, to make a combination between Touring and Cruising, I prefer my HC.
Rided over 10,000 miles on Europe, on highways, on mountain passes in the Alps and Pyrenees, on small rural roads in Greece, over the hills in Scotland and in inner cities in Germany, the UK, in Paris and Barcelona. In the inner cities of Rimini, at the Italian Riviera, at the islands in Greece. Cruising the German Autobahns with 80-90 mph...
And is including all the adaptions a made a lot cheaper to buy as well....Although, in Europa.

10,000 miles yearly, of course.
