This is my first post, I have an 03' deuce with a stage one screening eagle air kit, Rinehart 2into2 pipes, a stage one HD download and the Vance and Hines fuelpak. Lately when shifting from 1st to 2nd, 2nd to3rd and so on, my bike pops. Exhaust is tight with no leaks air cleaner is clean. New plugs set at .40 gap. Any suggestions on where to look now? Its not bad just annoying. Thanks

 

You and half the guys on here, including me personally I don't mind it, makes the engine sound kinda rorty, heard big race cars doing the same, air leaks is one cause, other than that I think it can be tuned out if your bothered by it.

 

Having read your post again it is kind of unusual for popping to occur going up through the gears normally it happens going down, in my experience anyway, but same thing applies I should think it can be tuned out.

 

The HD down load will still be a LEAN down load to pass EPA mandates. You can take it to a good tuner and have them retune the ECM to run a little richer which will eliminate, or reduce it considerably, the popping noise.

 

Mine pops too and untill I read all the crap on the forum about decell popping I thought it sounded cool.
After reading on hdforums, I still think it sounds cool.
Leave it alone and don't worry, it does no harm.
If you want it to sound smooth and quite go get a Gold wing.
I can say I ride at sea level, the last time I rented in Colo Springs the stock rental pinged missed and popped all week. Maybe its the air up there?
But if your performance is fine then leave it alone
