I've the PM 2" extended forward controls with a chrome primary outer cover.
I'm planning to change the chrome to a wrinkle black primary cover.
Is there a difference between dyna & softail primary covers?
Part Number:
60758-06A Part Number Description:
Fits '06-later DynaŽ models with mid-controls.
Part NUmber:
60717-07A Description:

someone is selling 60758 on eBay and I thought I'll buy it but wanted to be sure if this will fit my 2008 softail...Can anyone confirm?
Checked with my dealer and he just goes by the book and doesn't know much
Far as I know the only difference is the one your getting has a hole in it for the gear lever being mid controls so you'd need a blank for it if your using forward controls, to be dead sure you could check out a Dyna with mids and see if if its exactly the same shape as the chrome cover on your bike.

This part # when you do a search on HD website the picture shows that it has hole in the middle for a mid mount and when I look at each of the derby cover they look identical to me and both of them do have a hole in the middle for mid mount
My chrome cover does not have a hole in the middle
Can I get an inspection cover which covers the mid mount hole
yes kuryakyn makes a small ten dollar plug, to plug the mid shaft...its about the same size of a nickel.
a 2007 and up softail primary will work, a fatbob or wide glide primary will work also...they dont have a mid mount hole, since they come with forward controls.....fxdc and fxdb primary will work also but if they came from the factory with mids you will need to plug the hole. on ebay you can easily find a primary cover that will fit a softtail and dyna for $75-$150.
even though its just a small plug it is still very visible, so just look for a 2007 and up softail primary....or look for a 2006 and up dyna primary for forward controls.

hi, shrin on you original post it shows 60717-07A wont fit with forwards, this is only because of the hole for the mid shaft, but the bolt patterns are exactly the same.
if you going to get a brand new one maybe check out kutterharley.com, newcastlehd.com, or surdyke.com i rarely get parts from the local dealer..sometimes these site have 20-30% off =, no tax, free shipping.
but either of the used ones i listed will fit your rocker no problem
